Gryta-Camping is located right at Lake Olden, between the fjords of the Jostedalsbreen National Park in the west of Norway. At some ten km distance from the campsite lies the Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier on the European mainland. Gryta Camping is an amiable campsite with a view of the lake and the surrounding fjords. You camp here in unspoilt nature, with the comforts of a neat campsite.
Breathtaking viewThe view of the lake from the camping pitches is truly breathtaking. This privilege is not only afforded to pitches directly by the water. Because of the terraced setting, each camping guest has a clear view of the lake and the fjords. The campsite also has rental wooden chalets available in the same typical style as the reception building.Lake OldenGryta-Camping is located between various glacier tongues, which give rise to numerous small rivers. One of these streams flows across the campsite and feeds into Lake Olden. The colours of the lake change in the course of the day from pale green to dark green and blue. When there is no wind the lake looks like a mirror and the water surface reflects the surrounding mountains. If you want to go onto the lake, the campsite owner is happy to lend you one of his boats. These rowing boats and canoes can be rented (free of charge) from the reception. The lake is excellent for fishing. The Norwegian summers are not particularly hot, but should the sun manage to raise the temperature of the water, you can also go for a dip.Barbecue by the waterThere are several picnic tables and a communal barbecue along the water's edge. Quite often, a large bonfire is lit and the day's catch is eaten.
