Le Grand Calme campsite is located partially under a lush canopy of deciduous trees, at the foot of various mountain peaks, including the famous Alpe d’Huez. The Verney lake is close by. This is the ideal campsite for fans of mountain sport, cyclists and mountain bikers, who love the rugged nature of the high mountains.
The campsite, run by two friendly and helpful brothers, is situated along the through road towards the Col de la Croix-de-Fer, on the main street of the quiet village of Le Bourg-d’Oisans.Camping on a green alpine meadowUpon arrival the campsite looks like a spacious and fresh alpine meadow with beautiful, large deciduous trees, surrounded by beautiful wooded mountain scenery. The demarcated pitches with plenty of privacy are spread over the grounds on a beautiful lawn. There is partial shade thanks to the (medium)tall leafy trees. A shallow stream runs through the site. Mobile homes and bungalows can be hired.Trip around Lake VerneyYou can find a lovely swimming pool within walking distance (around four hundred metres). Lake Verney is also close by. You can make a splendid cycling trip around it. On the way there are several picnic tables to catch your breath and have something tasty to eat.Everything within walking distanceWhen you are happy but exhausted after a day in the mountains, you can have a pizza on the campsite. A bakery, a small supermarket and a few restaurants can be found within walking distance in the village.Trendy sanitary facilitiesThe sanitary facilities were totally renewed in the summer of 2017, with a modern and trendy look. It is also kept clean.
