Camping Waldwiesen is situated just outside the small town of Birkenfeld (Rheinland-Pfalz) in a non-tourist region with beautiful scenery. The campsite consists of a 'nature area', beautifully laid out like a park with very well-maintained greenery. The sanitary facilities are slightly dated but are kept very clean. There is a wide range of rental accommodations on the grounds.
Reception in cosy log cabinThe reception is housed in a wooden log cabin. Guests are welcomed by Mrs Schuller, the enthusiastic proprietress. There is no shop on the campsite. You will have to go to Birkenstock for your shopping (500 m only).Well-kept greeneryDirectly to the right of the entrance, there is a large tent lawn, surrounded by trees. The pitches are not demarcated. The terrain makes a well-maintained impression. The vegetation is remarkably lush. The pitches are spacious and surrounded by trees and shrubs, allowing for ample privacy and shade. Several types of accommodation can be rented on the campsite (holiday home, holiday apartment, three mobile homes and an equal number of camping-pods)Nature lovers and gemstone searchersCampsite Waldwiesen with its reputation as a nature campsite, is mostly frequented by seekers of quietude and nature lovers. Gemstone enthusiasts are faithful visitors to the region.Large swimming pondHalfway on the grounds, you will find a large swimming pond of some 2000 m2. The water in the pond is strictly monitored. it's an ideal spot for children for swimming, splashing around and boating. Adjacent to the pond is a large play and sunbathing lawn. When this kind of water fun is still not sufficient, you can go to the sub-tropical swimming pool, 5 km further on. Also great: there are six fire pits on the campsite.
