CampAlta AS

CampAlta AS is located in Finnmark, the northernmost province in Norway. This is the land of the nomadic Sami people, where cold, high plateaus are interspersed with wooded fjords and rivers of salmon. Spending the night in a lavvuyou'll see them right at the entrance: large, traditional Sami tents. These tents, called lavvu, are available for you to spend the night in. You can also choose one of the other rental accommodation (red cabins) or set up shop on a spacious pitch with your camping equipment. These are located on the central grounds or along the river, with plants and brush growing between the pitch and the river. These camping pitches boast a stunning view out over the woods and mountains that surround the site.The Alta riverThe campsite is situated on the Alta river, famous as one of the best rivers for salmon fishing in Europe. You can't swim in it, but you won't find better fishing anywhere else. Why not cast a line from your pitch or from the boat of the campsite's owner?Alta, the cityThe city of Alta is less than a ten-minute drive from the campsite. You can do the majority of your shopping there. The Alta Museum is also worth a visit, where you can admire ancient rock drawings done by the Sami. You should pay a visit to the Northern Lights Cathedral as well. This modern church (built in 2013) with a unique interior features an exhibit on the northern lights in the cellar.
